BFAP: Collaborators at Karmanos
In 2019, BFAP installed 30 works of art by Buckham artists at Karmanos Cancer Institute Proton Wing at McLaren in Flint. The artworks are hung in waiting rooms, dressing rooms and hallways for the comfort of their patients and staff. This collaboration brings joy to those patients who need it most and allows art to be seen in a venue other than the gallery. In 2021, BFAP installed 5 new works.
“It’s not just creating artwork, but sometimes it’s about being surrounded by artwork. This is a way that we can, not only support local Flint artists, but help make the experience more comfortable for patients.” explained Erin Simonetti, M.ED. ATR, registered art therapist at Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Flint.
