I just like to paint. I love color, pattern and texture. The subject matter varies from realism to non-objective. In all of my work there is an emotional context. It varies from playful and happy to a little creepy. I used to fight the creepy but now I have decided to let the work be what it wants to be. My art is therapeutic.
Sometimes I start out with a subject but most often the piece begins with a mark on the surface and I go for the ride. I think of my abstract pieces as mindscapes. On these, I am working from the inside out. My landscapes and figurative work represent what I am seeing.
No matter what the subject, the act of creating something gives me a sense of joy I cannot duplicate anywhere else.
