Metaphysique is an exhibition of artworks that address the ideas, issues, topics, forms, aesthetics, symbolisms, politics, feelings, questions, doubts, fears, celebrations, desires, repulsions, histories, metaphors, shames, exultancies, and/or etc of the human figure: clothed, bare, in any media, in any style, narrative, formal, classic, experimental, political, religious, inside, outside, solo, in groups, etc.
Juror Donovan Entrekin holds an undergraduate Certificate in Painting and Printmaking and an MFA in Studio Art from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. His studio practice incorporates painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. He uses images of the human figure as vessels to carry and convey feelings about food, sex, and death. He has been the Director of the School of the Flint Institute of Arts since 2015.
Founded in 1984, Buckham Fine Arts Project | Buckham Gallery is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the vision to support and nurture artists, build community and inclusivity, while challenging our audience to engage with contemporary art in new ways. In commitment to our vision to support artists, Buckham Gallery will provide a stipend of $50 to each artist selected for this exhibition to aid in shipping costs. We acknowledge this may not cover all costs associated with the shipment and return of artwork.
Metaphysique exhibition will be held April 5 - May 4, 2024 at Buckham Gallery, Flint MI.

Details:
- Artist must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of the USA.
- Each artist may submit 1- 3 works for $25.
- Media Specifications: All media accepted and the theme is open to interpretation.
- All work must be original in concept, no reproductions.
- Shipping Stipend: All artists selected for exhibition will receive $50
- Submissions must be entered through Buckham Gallery’s website by January 6, 2024
- Artists will be notified by February 24, 2024.

- The entry fee is $25, up to 3 works may be submitted for that fee.
- Submission fee may be paid by credit card or Paypal, and is nonrefundable.
Shipment or In-person Drop-Off:
- Artists are responsible for coordinating all packing, shipping and return shipping of their artwork, or in-person drop-off and pick-up.
- Selected works must be received between March 26 - 29, 2024
- Stipend checks will be mailed to artists once the work is received and in good condition at Buckham Gallery.
- Buckham Arts Collective members are welcome to apply, fee-free, however will not receive the $50 stipend as intended to assist with the shipping of artwork.
- Artwork may be for sale, though not required to be for sale. Artists set retail prices for their work.
- Buckham Gallery retains a 35% commission on sold work.
