The Gallery Assistant is a public facing role responsible for daily activities and engaging audiences, as well as various administrative and data entry tasks. This position is a part-time, hourly position, working in-person. Typical weekly hours will average ten hours per week, including 2-3 Saturdays per month and occasional evenings. Atypical, the week leading up to the annual fundraising event may require additional hours. The Gallery Assistant reports to the Executive Director.
Overview of Responsibilities
Operations:
Greet visitors and provide helpful information about the organization, programming, and events.
Answer phone, respond to emails, manage post and parcel deliveries.
Maintain and ensure all areas are tidy and clean.
Opening/closing duties.
Administration:
Maintain event and visitor database
Maintain community membership database
Other duties as assigned by Director
Responsibilities in Collaboration with Director
Communications:
Coordinate email and letter communications with membership
Coordinate email communications with volunteers
Exhibition and Event Support:
Record sales in 3rd party sales platforms.
Occasionally assist with art handling, including unpacking or repacking for shipment.
Additional potential for assistance with gallery installation support
Assist with set up and break down for events
PR and Marketing Support:
Manage updates to the website as directed.
Assist in photography documenting exhibitions and events
Assist in managing active social media presence.
Support additional program and organization needs as required.
Ideal Experience and Characteristics
Must be friendly and customer service focused.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from all sectors of the community.
Ability to be flexible, organized, accurate, and detail-oriented.
An interest in visual art, literary arts, or nonprofit administration preferred.
Familiarity with Google Suite, Canva, and Apple computer applications preferred.
Flexible: 10 Hours/ Weekly Average Part-Time Staff Position: $13.73/hour
