Brown Bag: A call for food themed artworks
National Juried Exhibition @ Buckham Gallery
$50 Shipping Stipend for ALL Selected Artists
Juror Alyson Hollobaugh
Deadline: September 5, 2024 - CLOSED
Submission Fee: $25
Buckham Gallery invites artists to submit works for our newest Call for Entry, Brown Bag, which is a national juried exhibition of food themed artworks. From the grocery store to carry out containers to sack lunches, we carry our food in the gently textured and slightly crinkly Brown Bag. The Brown Bag is the vehicle through which we receive our delicious food which carries its own weight. Food can bring with it the memories of meals made by family or eaten in childhood. It can represent culture and tradition. Food can hint at growth and time and joy. Most of all what food does is bring us together.
The focal point/subject of the artwork submitted must be food but may include other objects. Work may include cooked food, prepared ingredients, growing food, fruits & vegetables, food in process (such as farming and cooking), eating food, and more.
Juror Alyson Hollobaugh is a Midwestern based multi-disciplinary artist. Hollobaugh is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art with a BFA in Jewelry + Metals and the recipient of a Gund Traveling Scholarship in 2018. She was the Artist in Residence in the Jewelry + Metals Department at the Cleveland Institute of Art from 2018 to 2019. Hollobaugh is the recipient of the Kenneth F. Bates Scholarship for Excellence in Enameling in 2017. She works in a wide range of mediums, from metal to enamel and paint to ink while her work hones in on sensory focused subject matter.
Founded in 1984, Buckham Fine Arts Project | Buckham Gallery is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the vision to support and nurture artists, build community and inclusivity, while challenging our audience to engage with contemporary art in new ways. We acknowledge this may not cover all costs associated with the shipment and return of artwork.
