After reviewing the full prospectus below, find the required application form HERE.
It is the mission of Buckham Gallery to enrich the cultural life of its surrounding communities by presenting a broad range of innovative contemporary art, both visual and nonvisual, of the highest quality and standard.
Buckham Gallery, also known as Buckham Fine Arts Project, is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 1984. It is Buckham Fine Arts Project’s vision to actively encourage and support artists who are making unique and significant statements in their chosen disciplines, providing opportunities for our greater community to engage with and think about sometimes challenging works of art.
We are currently accepting applications for Buckham’s 42nd Exhibition Season, October 2025 - September 2026. The museum-quality gallery is located in downtown Flint, Michigan. Our exhibitions are open to the public four days a week. The Buckham Fine Arts Project is pleased to announce partial shipping reimbursements available for artists selected to exhibit during our 42nd Exhibition Season!
Details:
Solo, group, and curatorial proposals of all media are welcome to apply. Buckham Gallery will celebrate its 42nd season from October 2025 to September 2026 with nine exhibitions each spanning four to five weeks. Solo artist shows generally run concurrently with one or two other artist presentations.
Proposals must be submitted via Buckham Gallery Website. Artists must submit to 2025 - 2026 Season Call For Entry to be eligible for partial shipping reimbursements to offset transportation costs.
Any special A/V (audio/video) equipment required for the exhibit will need to be provided by the artist(s). Gallery staff will assist as possible, but cannot guarantee availability of equipment.
All shows are laid out and installed by Gallery Staff with consideration given to each artist’s vision. Site-specific installation artists may request to personally execute complex installation proposals. Installation work must be able to be installed within three days due to our short turnover time between shows.
Eligibility:
Anyone can submit a proposal. Artists should submit a strong and consistent body of work. Selected proposals should not have been exhibited at Buckham Gallery previously. Likewise, we expect artists to act in good faith and not exhibit the same body of work or show within a 90-mile radius for two months before and after the Artist's show at Buckham Gallery. Staff will coordinate with selected artists when scheduling shows to avoid conflicts.
2025-2026 Season Partial Shipping Reimbursements:
The Buckham Fine Arts Project was founded in late 1983 by a group of Flint-area artists, who sought to fulfill the city’s need for a local exhibition and performance venue that would direct its creative attention to presenting ambitious work. After the inception of its cooperative membership, Buckham Gallery mounted its first exhibition in May of 1984. Buckham Fine Arts Project, an artist-lead nonprofit organization, continues to look for new and better ways to support artists. Artists selected for exhibition in the 2025 - 2026 Season will be eligible for Partial Shipping Reimbursements.
The purpose of Partial Shipping Reimbursements is to support artists creating innovative contemporary art and help defray the costs associated with shipping and transportation of work to Buckham Gallery. It is acknowledged that the reimbursements will not cover all shipping costs associated with work transportation.
Jury:
All submissions are juried by the Buckham Arts Collective and finalized by an Exhibition Committee. Our committee is composed of community arts professionals and Buckham Artist Collaborators. Selections are final.
Delivery and Return of Work:
Artists must cover the cost to transport the artwork to and from the gallery. All work selected for the exhibition must arrive ready to install. Works not gallery-ready, or not exhibiting good craftsmanship, may be omitted from the exhibit. Accepted work that differs significantly from the submitted images or suffers from poor presentation, will be disqualified.
Buckham Gallery staff will demonstrate careful handling of your work while it is in the gallery’s possession. Works will be insured while on premises. In the event of loss or damage, all claims will be determined at the discretion of the insurance company, not exceeding the retail amount. Buckham Gallery’s insurance does NOT cover damage that occurs during shipping and transport. Please make sure to properly prepare your work for transport.
Sale of Work:
All artwork is available for sale during the exhibition, unless listed as Not For Sale (NFS). Artists determine the retail price of their work and finalize it on the inventory list. Buckham Gallery retains a 35% commission on all work sold. Funds from sales (65% of retail) are remitted to the artist within 30 days of exhibition close. Artists will need to complete a W-9 form for sales totaling $600 or more.
Guidelines:
Works must be presentation-ready and structurally sound. Buckham Gallery staff make all final decisions regarding installation and exhibition space.
Submission Fee: $30
The Buckham Fine Arts Project is a 501(c)(3), non-profit charitable organization whose goal is to provide exhibition opportunities for artists and to bring contemporary art to Flint, Michigan. We receive most of our funding from the generosity of individuals and organizations who support Buckham Gallery.
