Annual Fund: October 2021 - September 2022
Since our founding in 1984, we’ve made it our mission to enrich our surrounding communities by presenting a broad range of innovative contemporary art, visual and non-visual, of the highest quality and standard.
38 years later we are still dedicated to our vision of nurturing and supporting artists, building community and inclusivity, while challenging our audience to engage with art in new ways.
In addition to the visual exhibitions Buckham’s programming includes: BFAP: On Screen, Writer In Residence, Open Mic, Buckham at Karmanos, Internships, and Emerging Artist Fellowship (with UM-Flint).
We are asking for your tax-deductible support.

2021-2022 Annual Fund
This year, as effects of the Covid-19 pandemic linger, the Buckham Fine Arts Project continued providing the quality contemporary arts programming we have become known for over the past 37 years, while also initiating exciting new programs and partnerships to strengthen our relationship with the Flint community. Through this challenging time, we recognize the importance of contemporary arts programming as a source of comfort and as an important medium to help facilitate on-going conversations about some of the most important issues of our time.
Buckham Gallery exhibited innovative and intellectually challenging contemporary artwork by 82 visual artists and presented 14 In Conversation video interviews with featured artists on YouTube. Additionally, we also continued providing our online viewing rooms as an option on our website for patrons who are not able to visit the gallery in-person. Buckham Gallery hosted 1,200 guests at our Art Walk receptions and 1,300 daily gallery guests, and continued to reach patrons beyond the gallery walls by sharing artwork by Flint artists at Karmanos Cancer Center’s Proton Wing for the comfort of their patients and staff.
Buckham Fine Arts Project presented 21 performing artists at Open Mic, bringing back our popular monthly event during the summer and early fall. We also began an exciting new collaborative project, On Screen, which brings together Flint-area nonprofit organizations, Flint’s community maker-space Factory Two, and Flint artists. This project has resulted in three finished fine art screen prints thus far, which are currently for sale with a portion of the proceeds supporting the nonprofit partner, and will continue producing new prints into the next year. Additionally, the Buckham Fine Arts Project launched the Writer In Residence program, which allows us to collaborate with insightful Flint-area BIPOC literary artists who are writing about the exhibits that we are presenting in Buckham Gallery. Finally, the Buckham Fine Arts Project initiated an internship program designed to provide contemporary arts work experiences to students at the University of Michigan-Flint. It’s been a great year for contemporary art in Flint!
Please consider making an end of the year donation. We rely on your financial support and investment in Buckham Fine Arts Project | Buckham Gallery to maintain this momentum and to continue the work we are doing to provide excellent contemporary arts programming. In 2022, we will continue the programming you have come to expect from the Buckham Fine Arts Project!
Thank you to all our donors, volunteers, arts collective and community members for a great year. We appreciate you!
